Brew Like A Mother!
The suggested Theme for this year’s Rendezvous was pretty easy to get approval from the UVBG club members…since we had the event over Mother’s Day weekend.
Meals—the club provided a Saturday morning breakfast and dinner that night for the 35 participants. Dinner salads/desserts were donated by our members and enjoyed by all.
Fun Stuff
Sexy Beer Night: Always a fun evening around the campfire, sharing stories & tasting different and sometimes odd beers & wines. This year was no exception, as this collage of empties collected the next morning proves. Also had some interesting fiber optic toys displayed for our entertainment.
Prizes/Raffle Donations: We had a lot of stuffed raffle bags this year thanks to our Hops Direct and Five Star Chemical sponsors as well as many of our UVBG members & guests. We tried something new this year-a silent auction. It proved to be pretty successful, so it’s likely to show up again next year.
Adult Beverage Competition: This year we returned to being primarily a beer tasting, friendly competition between home brewers. We had 43 beer entries and 10 non-beer entrees (wine/cider/mead). Our three beer winners were:
1st place, Wayne DeRuyte & Mandy Lindsey – Blackberry Stout
2nd place, Bob Calvert – Bobby Rae’s Stout
3rd place, Jeff Clarke & Nate Eckhardt – La Rouge de Rogue (Saison)
People’s Choice (for non-beer entrees) went to Ronnie Stansbury for her Mango wine.
Saturday night Campfire Music: Coleen, Jeff, Mike, and Steve provided the evening’s entertainment singing & playing with 2 guitars, 1 bass guitar, and 1 ukulele.
